Correction & Retraction Policy

At JMR-SMET, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and transparency. We follow internationally recognized guidelines to manage corrections and retractions, in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) best practices.

Corrections to Published Work

We acknowledge that honest errors may occur in scholarly work. When such factual errors are identified post-publication by the authors, editors, or readers, the journal will review the issue and, if necessary, publish a formal correction notice. This notice will clearly state the nature of the correction and be linked to the original article.

Authors are expected to promptly notify the editorial team if they discover any substantive mistakes in their published work. All correction decisions are made at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief and are handled as swiftly as possible.

Corrections may be issued for:

  • Minor data inaccuracies not affecting overall conclusions

  • Author name or affiliation errors

  • Reference updates or metadata adjustments

Retraction Policy

Retractions are considered in cases involving:

  • Duplicate publication or redundant submission

  • Plagiarism or data fabrication

  • Ethical breaches or violations of publishing standards

  • Significant errors rendering findings unreliable

Retractions are published as separate notices, clearly linked to the original article, and include the reason for the retraction. The original article will remain available online with a clear “RETRACTED” watermark to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

In cases where misconduct is suspected but not yet confirmed, we may issue an Expression of Concern pending investigation.

Authorship Changes after Publication

Authorship Changes after Publication
JMR-SMET considers authorship a serious academic responsibility. Authorship changes (additions, removals, or reordering) after publication are strongly discouraged and only permitted under exceptional circumstances.
To request an authorship change post-publication, the corresponding author must:

  • Submit a formal request with a clear explanation of the oversight or justification;

  • Provide written and signed consent from all current and proposed authors;

  • Demonstrate that the new author(s) meet established authorship criteria (e.g., significant contribution to the research or manuscript).

All such requests are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and may result in a published corrigendum to maintain transparency.

Withdrawal of Articles after Publication

Withdrawal of Articles after Publication
Withdrawal of published articles is not permitted except under rare and justified conditions (e.g., legal issues, serious ethical breaches, or author request backed by valid reason).
Requests for post-publication withdrawal must:

  • Be submitted by the corresponding author with formal justification;

  • Be reviewed by the editorial board;

  • Lead to a Withdrawal Notice published in the journal archive if approved.

Withdrawn articles remain accessible online with a “Withdrawn” watermark and explanation to preserve the scholarly record. Silent or unnotified withdrawals are not allowed.

Editorial Discretion and Transparency

All correction and retraction decisions are made with transparency and in alignment with COPE guidelines. Our goal is to preserve the trust of our readers and the scholarly community by maintaining a reliable and ethical publication record.
